After seeing my friend, =fablespinner, try it out, I broke down and decided I wanted to jump in after all.
BUT... I changed it. Wanted to show from 2000 to 2009.
I still have a LOT of thanks to give to the early BishArt art group, from when we were still on Yahoo Groups. Besides JKS, those were some of the BEST learning years I have experienced. Some of the BEST critiques were offered in that group!
And the best critique EVER given to me, to date: by the guys at Mirage Studios, on my inking style. It was probably the harshest critique I've ever been given, but I LOVED it, and have taken it to heart. Obviously, I still worship the brush as my inking tool of choice, but I have changed my inking style, to make my line art POP.
Everyone here on DA, over on FA, so many in Tokyopop, Tammy, Chad, and over in LJ land have been a HUGE inspiration to me, and gave given me a HUGE butt kick, repeatedly, over the years, to improve.
And I know I still have a loooooong way to go. Never stop learning, and never stop trying.
I'm going to be practicing my perspective work more this year, practicing more varied human anatomy, and working on pieces with detailed backgrounds, though those might be just for personal pieces, unless someone's willing to pay for a full backgrounded piece.
I'm just glad I finally came up with a style that works for ME! And it's a style, I think, that can kind of work in either the "cartoon" genre, western comic style and manga style.
Still have so much more to go, though. I really want to get back into working on more detailed backgrounds and perspective work again. Some future commission orders may call for it, but current ones, not really. Maybe my next personal work, after I'm finished with the Donatello piece... unless I toss him on the stage from the concert. Hm... may have to do that.
xD The meme is cool, I've seen a lot of great ones like yours. I may have to try it!
There's totally nothing stopping you from working on backgrounds and perspective. I've actually started to find those aspects of a drawing addicting, haha. They can be a lot of fun to work on.. and very tedious. But the end product always makes it worth the effort. xD I have a long ways to go too.. but that's what makes art fun.
Daw, thanks~ Yeah, this school has been wonderful. :3 I'm so glad I came! Thanks for all your help getting me here too. I'm sorry I suck at hanging out nowadays. T^T
Ditto here. I even have a difficult time finding chances to get to hang out with Tammy now as she and Chad have moved further away. Sucks when you don't own your own car.
And there's this foreign thing called "free time"... not sure what this "free time" thing is. XP
Awwww that suuuucks! I think of you guys often, like when you were all at the school. I think you guys were a year or two under one of my current instructors.
bee...you are my idol!
hopefully, i'm improving too? OTL TT~TT
let's both do our best for the new year~
<3333
Thanks!

Best of luck to both of us! To EVERYONE here!

Man, you improved a HELL of a lot since you started at the Kubert School! Your works have been blowing my mind! Oo I just suck at leaving comments.
